Workspaces
Collaborate with your team, manage roles, and share AI resources.
Workspaces are the core organizational unit in Nodal. Everything you do—your chats, uploaded files, prompt library, and wallet balance—lives inside a workspace.
Personal vs. Team Workspaces
When you create a Nodal account, you automatically receive a Personal Workspace. This is your private area where you can chat with AI models, upload personal documents, and manage your own wallet balance.
You can also create Team Workspaces from the workspace switcher. Team workspaces are designed for collaboration:
- Shared Wallets: Everyone in the team workspace draws from the same prepaid wallet balance. There are no per-user seat licenses.
- Shared Prompts: Save a useful system prompt (e.g., "Company Tone of Voice Guide") to the Prompt Library, and the whole team can use it in their chats.
- Shared Knowledge: Upload documents (e.g., product manuals, API docs) to a Knowledge Collection. Team members can attach this collection to their chats for instant Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG).
Active Workspace Context
When you use the Nodal app, you are always operating within an Active Workspace.
You can switch your active workspace using the dropdown menu in the sidebar. Switching workspaces instantly updates your view to show the chat history, files, and billing information belonging to that workspace.
Note for Developers: API keys are permanently bound to the workspace in which they were created. They do not depend on your browser's active workspace.
Roles and Permissions
Workspace authorization ensures your data and funds are secure.
- Members can start chats, upload files, and use shared resources.
- Admins and Owners can invite or remove members, manage API keys, and view sensitive billing artifacts like receipts and ledger entries.
Managing Your Team
Invitations
You can invite colleagues to your team workspace via the settings menu. Nodal handles the invitation emails and onboarding flow.
Archiving Workspaces
If a project concludes, Team Workspaces can be archived. Note that if a workspace has remaining prepaid funds, the balance must be drained before the workspace can be archived.
